ROWBIKE - ACCOMMODATING PHYSICAL DISABILITIES
Rowing for special needs
Rowbike allows individuals with physical disabilities to experience the health benefits of rowing, coupled with the thrills of motion. The four-wheel Rowbike provides the necessary stability that these individuals require, as well as the means to operate a moving fitness machine in ways that would not be possible with other machines such as a bicycle.
Right out of the box, the Rowbike is remarkably easy to use and already accommodate's of special needs individuals, ranging from single leg amputees to double amputees, various back injury victims and on to the more common knee and hip replacement individual.
Example: Just using the upper body, with the Power Lever attached to the drive chain and the seat locked in place, allows the rower to isolate his or her upper body.
The sliding seat allows single leg amputees to use the Rowbike and is favored as a rehabilitation tool. Since the Rowbike puts little to no impact on knees or joints, it makes the machine ideal for those who have trouble with these areas. Being able to isolate specific muscle groups helps build strength and stamina and is a great supplement to a physical therapy program.
One of the best things about the Rowbike for our amputee owners is that it gives them a chance to really get out and have a blast! Customer Joe Allen reports that Rowbike gave him back a sense of freedom and each time gets on his Rowbike he gets a rush. "I'm telling you once I got on this thing it has been hard to get me off. I wake up and its the first thing I think about. If I had the time I would Rowbike to and from work instead of drive," says Allen.
